A GOOD THING, RIGHT?
Because You Probably Didn’t Get Me Anything …
That’s okay.
I don’t need more stuff.
Nada. Zilch.
BEING MORE
With Less …
I’m Good Without Extra.
Been decluttering the past couple years decades.
… Making Room For What Matters.
DUMPING, DISCARDING
My Choice … Living Leaner …
Not to be confused with Being Leaner. And, that, too.
Or, Wiser … Mensa still doesn’t return my calls. Smartasses.
… I’m Way Over The Insatiable, Unsustainable Burden Of Conspicuous Consumption (*).
THE SIZE OF LESS MATTERS
Down Sizing … Smart Sizing …
Just Feels About Right Sizing.
“Don’t Use It, Lose It, Darling.”
… Inevitably, Whatever Size Fits, Works.
QUASI MINIMALIST
Ownership … Possessions … Collecting …
Been Right There. Its Not My Thing Anymore.
I’ve stopped Wanting crap that I don’t Need.
… And, Will Probably Never Use.
LIVING SIMPLER
Is Complicated … In The Beginning …
Get’s easier. Letting go. As you go.
“Divesting Of The Non-Essential = Throwing Sh!t Out.”
… Keeping The Rest.
WHAT ABOUT THE NEW CAR?
Guilty Pleasure …
Justified by necessity – I use it at least twice a day – and, I really needed a Blue car.
Plus, I’m still flirtatious with Hypocrisy, teased by my little ol’ Ego.
… So, There’s That Chestnut I Haven’t Roasted.
TCHOTCHKE
Cha Cha Chäch-ke … It’s Not A Dance … Though I Like The Sound Of It …
Small Trinkets. Chafe me. Cluttering up space.
Whatever the name – Phobia – I have it.
I prefer it sparse. Clean as a Bean. To see The Forest Without The Trees Blocking The View.
TWO SUITCASE RULE
Everything You’ll Ever Need In Life …
Can fit in your Head – and – in your Heart.
“Never Seen A Hearse Pulling A U-Haul?”
Much more … is where the argument starts … an invitation for Greed to undermine Intellect and Spirit.
BLAME IT ON FEET
Socks Get A Pass … Lose One, And The Sole Surviving Toe-Heel-Ankle Warmer Is Useless In Its Only Purpose …
The Plan goes straight into the dumpster.
Shoes For Every Occasion is the consumer mantra.
Because, We’ll Never Have Fewer Occasions Than Sense, Right?
WHAT’S IN MY CLOSET?
Too Many Shirts …
And, the nearly optimal number of pants. Why are they called ‘Pairs’ if there’s only one?
Suitable for a immodest wardrobe that fluctuates with the season.
… Yes, “Winter Weight” Is A Season.
CLEANING OUT, CLEANING UP
Letting Go … Is Easy …
I purge seasonally. Donate to a local charity. Not as I often as I should.
Occasionally, they’ll send things back. Mostly, poor fashion choices I’ve collected, contemplated, and relegated to the far right of my closet.
… Evidently, There Isn’t Much Demand For A Lavender Dress Shirt With French Cuffs.
BANKER’S BOX
Where All The Untossable Stuff I’ll Never Toss Out Lives …
Photos. Yearbooks. Paper.
Yadacetera.
… You should know, I still can’t find My Library Card.
SYNCHONICITY OF INTELLECT & EMOTION
Is Where Sensible Decisions Are Made … Harmony Is Found.
“Does My Head Always Talk To My Heart?”
Only When It Needs Something. Selfish like that.
They can both be stubborn. Ignoring the other. Silent for uncomfortable spells. Dismissive even. The occasional side eye in the mirror. About it.
CAKE & EAT IT, TOO
To prove a point of near irrationality, on the parade home from work yesterday, I moseyed my carcass to the Always Happy People’s Republic of Wal-Mart …
I picked up a dandy 12-Quart Stock Pot. Shiny. Stainless Steel. Heavy.
My Why? I like making stock. Big pots of homemade stock.
And, that old 8-Quart relic was Just The Wrong Size to do the job.

Love the lean life. Total minimalist all the way. I can breathe better with less or no stuff.
Oh, and think pantaloons. The answer to your question about pairs of pants. 🤓

I’m all about less is more … in just about everything. Pantaloons it is 😊

Love this. I am downsizing too. And Mensa doesn’t call me either. Jealous bastards.

Very creative and relatable, especially the decluttering part. I’m in the midst of that right now!

I have read this twice. I love this style of writing. What stuck out to me the most was about decluttering, as I am making room for what matters.

LaShawn, thanks for your kind comments and re-reading. Decluttering never ends. Messes are transient. They just move somewhere else and start again.

True wisdom with twist of humor. This is creatively inspiring. Laughing all the way to the closest, another purge awaits. Great imagery.

Thank you, Emma. I’m trying … A few manuscripts getting dusty in my desk drawer. Think I’m onto to something now. 😉
